What Makes the Best Eye Wrinkle Creams on the Market So Much Better

September 26th, 2008 · No Comments

For time eternal, men and women have been looking into mirrors and agonizing over the fine wrinkles that gradually appeared around their eyes. These wrinkles are commonly referred to as “crows feet” and it seems that no one can escape them as they age. In the past, creams and lotions were available that pertained to treat these fine wrinkles with surface treatments that at times often appeared to have some level of effect on them. However; in short order the effects were gone and more lotion or cream was needed.

The Falacy of Oil Based Surface Treatments

What these old and outdated treatments were actually doing was smoothing out the skins surface layer with oils such as lanolin and only had the effect of lessening these fine eye wrinkles visually. They were still there but with the skin surface saturated with oil they were just less visible and the skin felt smoother. Also, perfumes in these skin treatment products had the effect of a basic “aroma therapy” that made the person using them just feel a little bit better.

Clinical Studies Yield Results

It was only through extensive study into the actual microbiological functions of the skins lower living tissues that a greater understanding of how the skin functions was arrived at. This subsequently led to a basic understanding of how wrinkles are formed. What was learned was quite startling. One thing that was learned, was that wrinkles are the symptoms of things that are transpirieng deep in the skins sub dermal layers, not on the dermal or surface layer of the skin.

The Formation of Crows Feet

Also, another thing that was learned was that larger wrinkles in thicker skin have different causes than smaller wrinkles in thinner skin such as the crows feet wrinkles in the thin skin around the eyes. The most common cause of crows feet wrinkles is a thinning of a layer of cells that is located between the dermis and the epidermis called the “dermal epidermal junction”.

Better Skin Through Modern Chemistry

Newer eye wrinkle creams like those from Obagi contain synthesized substances that your skin naturally produces that tend to be lacking in skin with a thin or thinning dermal epidermal junction. Substances such as Kinetin and hyaluronic acid that are contained in these newer more effective eye creams effectively penetrate beyond the skins surface layer to the lower sub dermal layers where they work to induce the dermal epidermal junction to produce collagen. The end result is a filling out of the skin, resulting in a lessening and or eliminating of crows feet wrinkles around the eyes and lips.
