Benadryl is a popular antihistamine used primarily to combat allergies and congestion problems. Benadryl is also used in many over the counter sleep aids. When used in larger than intended doses, Benadryl changes the way it interacts on the human body. When used in high doses it can cause hallucinations and confusion, these are the effects abusers of Benadryl are going for. This is the high they are trying to reach. Unfortunately, other effects of Benadryl abuse can include increased heart rate, insomnia, kidney and liver damage, and even seizures. Young people have been using Benadryl as a cheap high and need to be aware of the dangers associated with this drug. Just because it is over-the-counter, doesn’t mean it is safe.

I have abused Benadryl to get a high, that was at first euphoric, then came on slight hallucination’s, followed by extreme muscle relaxation to the point i could not get out of bed. After a while i fell asleep, and my dreams were extremely vivid. nothing to horrific, and for the most part enjoyable.

I used to abuse benadryl and when I took it i felt like I wasn’t really there and I was in my own mind. If someone tapped me the feeling rippled through that area of my body. It was very hard to talk to people and even walk. I was so drowsy I would have to lay down. The side effects weren’t that great. My body would have minor twitches that lasted for about an hour.
