Although often confused as a food allergy, IBS (or Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is becoming more and more prevalent in the US. IBS is generally characterized as a distinct abdominal pain accompanied by either diahrea or constipation, depending on which version of IBS you have.
No one has the ultimate cure for IBS because it is such a misunderstood disease. Now more and more physicians are seeing a link between the brain and the lower intestine. IBS is being linked more and more to stress.
In an IBS diet, it is important to eat a lot of foods that ease your stressed out mind. Staying away from fatty foods and lactose is also a really good idea.
Food combining has also been around for a long time. Invented by a Dr. Hays in the 1920s, he found that combining proteins and starches was a bad thing unless also accompanied by a legume. This combination often creates an entire protein that your body can more easily digest. And the easier it is to digest, the more of a chance you’ll have of avoiding IBS symptoms.
