When used in high doses it can cause hallucinations and confusion, these are the effects abusers of Benadryl are going for. This is the high they are trying to reach. Unfortunately, other effects of Benadryl abuse can include increased heart rate, insomnia, kidney and liver damage, and even seizures. Young people have been using Benadryl as a cheap high and need to be aware of the dangers associated with this drug. Just because it is over-the-counter, doesn’t mean it is safe.

15% of eighth graders admitted to having used alcohol in the past month.

33% of tenth graders admitted to having used alcohol in the past month.

Both groups had some that admitted to already being heavy drinkers.
